The next MLA meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 21st 11:00 AM Board meeting 12:00 PM General Meeting We will be meeting at LSA Glen Burnie, 6711 Baymeadow Dr. Glen Burnie, MD 21060 The main topic of this meeting will be MLA Board Elections. We are in need of someone to serve on the Election Board to Chair and assist. Please call or e-mail Joanna if you would like to take on this position.

Novemebr 16th meeting will be the actual voting day. Openings are for ALL Executive Board; President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone that has been a member for at LEAST 1 year. Please e-mail your nomination. This meeting will only be open to current paid members in good standing, pending members and first time visitors. Only members that can vote are "Good Standing Operator" members. If you have not renewed your MLA Membership, Renewals will be available at the door.

Checks will only be accepted for new or renewal of membership.

PENDING MEMBERS and non-renewed Operator MLA Members: please note that your membership is "Pending" until all needed information is provided INCLUDING a Certificate of Insurance naming the Maryland Limousine Association as a holder.

BWI Courtesy/Commercial Permit

Beginning July 1, 2010, BWI/MAA will be issuing NEW Courtesy/Commercial Permits. ALL CURRENT PERMITS EXPIRES JUNE 30, 2010. Click here for the Permit Application application_for_courtesy-commercial_permit

PLEASE NOTE: ANY Maryland company that provides transportation to BWI is REQUIRED by COMAR to obtain this permit! If you are company NOT registered in Maryland, but do hold a valid authority in your home state, you do need to have this permit and PSC Authority if your provide point-to-point in Maryland. IF you are an out of state company providing transportation from BWI directly back to your home state, this permit is not required due to the RIDE ACT, but your are required to hold a current US DOT/MC Authority.

DATE CHANGE Again!!

The Maryland Limousine Association will be holding its 4^th Annual Golf Classic on Thursday, September 9, 2010.

Join the MLA and Baltimore Orioles 1983 World Series MVP Award winner and game announcer, Rick Dempsey, for our 4^th Annual Golf Classic! Rick will join in for a day of relaxation, socialization, fun and GOLF! Oh, and did I mention that RICK DEMPSEY will be playing?

The reason for the date change was so that Mr. Dempsey would be able to attend!

Last, year’s event was a great success due to the excellent support of our sponsors and friends. With everyone’s help, we were able to make the lives of some very special children a little happier. Just as last year, we will also be donating a portion of our proceeds to the MADD, Chesapeake Region.

The format is Best Ball and will be a Shot Gun start at 1:30 PM. Registration will begin @ 12:00 PM.   Please be checked in by 1:00 PM.

MLA RENEWAL/NEW Membership

Membership year begins June 1, 2010 and expires May 31, 2011.

A NEW membership application will be available by March 31, 2010. At this time applications will only be able to be mailed, no on-line sign-up. The new application will be requiring PSC #, USDOT and MC#'s (if you provide interstate transport). Your application will be pending until this information is verified. We will also ask for a copy of your Certificate of Insurance, naming the MLA.

75 Mile Exemption Removed
The MLA was advised by our contact from the MD Division of FMCSA to notify our MLA Membership. In short, the 75 mile rule NO LONGER applies. ( I have attached a doc with all FMCSA info.) ANYONE operating a 9 to 15 passenger vehicle (including driver) MUST have a Medical Card. Also keep in mind the vehicles weight. ANY vehicle over 10,001 MUST be CDL Certified! (Makes no difference what the passenger capacity is.) Just as the driver MUST have a CDL w/ passenger endorsement! If you are due to renew your “B” tags – You can now renew and get Class Q “LM” tags. Feel free to call me if you have any questions regarding this change.

·         Reporting Illegal DOT Vehicles - Do you see a CDL Vehicle that appears to be un-licensed or doesn't show their needed USDOT/MC information on their vehicle? You can now report this vehicle to the Commercial Vehicle Division (CVD) Enforcement of the MD State Police! If you or your chauffeur witness this type of vehicle you can call 410-694-6100 before 5 PM, 410-653-4200 after 5 PM or 443-532-8019 after hours. Ask to speak to the "Duty Officer for CVD. I understand that they WILL promptly investigate, BUT, you must have specific information when reporting: Location, Vehicle Type, registration state (tag), any recognizable markings (company name). Make sure you know this information before calling....DON'T ABUSE this information I am providing
